Annual Giving Volunteers

Founded in 1890 as an alumni organization independent of Yale, the Alumni Fund is one of the oldest and most successful annual giving programs in the country. The Yale Alumni Fund provides Yale graduates and Yale College parents a way to annually contribute unrestricted funds for Yale’s current use.

Contributions to the Alumni Fund are an important resource for Yale’s operating budget and support the university’s daily operations.

Yale University’s Office of Development has managed the Alumni Fund since 1992 and relies on over 2,300 class chairs and class agents who volunteer each year for Yale College, the Graduate School, and the professional schools.

The Phone Program, AKA The Bulldog Callers

The Bulldog Callers are current Yale students who play a key role in the Alumni Fund’s efforts to build support from alumni/ae who might not otherwise have personal contact with the university or hear from a volunteer. The Bulldog Callers complement the efforts of chairs and agents by calling alumni to solicit gifts, and keep alumni and parents connected to the university. Through their work as Bulldog Callers the students also learn about the importance of philanthropy in maintaining the quality of a Yale education.

In the 2014-2015 fiscal year, Bulldog Callers made over 1343,000 calls resulting in over 10,400 solicitations and over $730,000 raised. More than forty-five students were Bulldog Callers last year, and many have returned to continue their work this year as well.
