A promise from one generation to the next, giving that makes a Yale education affordable opens a world of possibility. There are many avenues of support—and lasting impacts—that you can choose from:
- Giving to scholarships perpetuates Yale’s decades-long commitment to students and their families that anyone admitted to Yale College can afford to enroll here. For the incoming Class of 2030, this means that more than a third of new students will attend Yale tuition free, and more than 80 percent will graduate without debt.
- Gifts in support of graduate fellowships enable Yale to compete for top minds across the humanities and social sciences. In science and engineering, fellowship support attracts the PhD students who propel our research labs to the very forefront of their fields. Fellowships help provide doctoral students with full tuition, a stipend for housing and meals, and healthcare coverage—an average cost of $85,000 per year for each of nearly 3,000 students.
- Across our thirteen professional schools—from the arts to law and from management to the health fields—giving for scholarships and living stipends is essential. Need-based scholarships reduce student borrowing and free our graduates to pursue their chosen career paths. Merit scholarships and debt forgiveness help to make Yale the first choice for students of every background.

You Help Us Meet the Need
Giving in support of students has a storied tradition at Yale. Alumni, parents, and friends established Yale’s first scholarship and fellowship funds beginning in the 1700s—funds that are still paying dividends. Even with such resources, need remains. In 2026, Yale budgeted $730 million for financial aid—more than double the funds available from the endowment payout. And with a new endowment tax and changes in federal funding of research, this need will only grow. Your support matters today more than ever.
