Bruce D. Alexander was the senior executive responsible for commercial development at the Rouse Company, one of the nation’s leading developers of marketplace and mixed-use urban projects. After twenty-five years, Alexander retired in 1996 to devote himself to pro bono work, including volunteering at Yale University on New Haven issues. Two years later, Alexander joined the university as its inaugural vice president for New Haven and state affairs and adjunct professor of real estate at Yale School of Management. He later added campus development to his portfolio.

For twenty years, Alexander led the university’s initiatives for the revitalization of New Haven, the strengthening of relations with the community, and the extensive redevelopment by the university of commercial properties adjacent to the Yale campus. He holds a BA from Yale University and a JD from Duke University and has been active on numerous non-profit boards.
