Annual Giving

Annual gifts provide current-use funds that Yale can spend right away. These flexible resources sustain financial aid, student life, teaching, research, collections, and more.
Every Dollar Makes a Difference
Each year, more than 30,000 donors make annual gifts to the Yale College Alumni Fund, the alumni and annual funds of the graduate and professional schools, and the Parents Annual Fund. Gifts range from $5 to over $50,000. All together, these contributions provide more than $40 million each year—dollars that go to work immediately to support the needs of Yale faculty and students.
Yale College Alumni Fund
Founded in 1890, the Yale Alumni Fund is one of the oldest and most successful annual giving programs in the country. Gifts to the Yale College Alumni Fund touch every aspect of the undergraduate experience, including financial aid, teaching, research, and student life.
You can direct your Yale College Alumni Fund gift to one of these areas:
Unrestricted gifts provide immediate support for the university’s most pressing needs. Each dollar of unrestricted, current-use funding has the equivalent immediate effect of income generated by $20 of endowment funds.
Financial aid in Yale College is subsidized by the generosity of Alumni Fund donors. These gifts significantly defray the cost of a Yale education and help bring exceptional students to the university.
Yale remains a steadfast champion of the humanities. From history to literature to philosophy, we are deeply invested in our scholarly work and the impact we have on our culture. Your annual gift helps to sustain our humanities departments, faculty members, students, programs, and collections.
Yale’s thriving arts community offers students hundreds of opportunities to study and create art. Gifts to this area support student projects, enable low-cost or free events, and help produce concerts, theater, and other arts initiatives.
Alumni Fund gifts will enable Yale’s faculty-led research teams to serve their patients, communities, and disciplines, supporting principal investigators while they develop new strategies to secure sustainable funding for the longer term.
Yale’s scholar-athletes practice valuable skills, including leadership, teamwork, and resilience. Gifts to athletics provide unrestricted support across all of Yale’s teams, to help our athletes be their best.
The Yale Library System is one of the university’s premiere assets, featuring 15 million print and electronic holdings housed in fifteen libraries.
Gifts to student support help to fund the First-Year Scholars at Yale program, the Community Initiative for first-generation low-income students, and Safety Net, through which students can request funding for emergency travel and other unexpected expenses.
Alumni Fund gifts in support of faculty help advance the boundaries of human knowledge and sustain Yale’s academic excellence.
Yale’s world-renowned campus features over 300 buildings across 1,155 acres. Gifts to the Alumni Fund help fund the renovation and maintenance of these iconic facilities.
Yale is proud to be part of the New Haven community, and we are committed to helping our neighbors thrive. Gifts to this area support the university’s contributions to the delivery of healthcare, nonprofit assistance to local businesses, community educational needs, and area not-for-profits focused on children and families, homelessness, and food insecurity.
Gifts for mental health and wellness fund programs partner with Yale Health’s Mental Health & Counseling department to enhance existing strengths by embedding additional care and support through programs such as Yale Community Care (YC3) and the Good Life Center.
Parents Annual Fund
Annual gifts from parents of past and present Yale College students provide essential resources for Yale College’s highest priorities, supporting the core educational experience and providing the dean of Yale College with the flexibility to create innovative new programs.
By giving to the Parents Annual Fund, you can provide immediate and flexible support for all aspects of a Yale education. You can make an unrestricted gift, or direct your giving to financial aid or undergraduate life.
Give to the Parents Annual Fund
Family Giving Circle
The Family Giving Circle (FGC) is a group of families contributing $5,000 or more to the Parents Annual Fund each year. FGC families are invited to regional events and an on-campus reception during Family Weekend. By contributing $10,000 annually, FGC members can also become Nathan Hale Associates and name a one-year undergraduate scholarship.
Postgraduate Alumni & Annual Funds
Annual giving by alumni forms the backbone of support for Yale’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and thirteen professional schools. In many cases, you can personalize your contribution to your school’s alumni fund or annual fund by designating your gift to one or more areas of special interest. Or you may choose to give without restriction to support your school’s most pressing needs.
