Parent Annual Giving
The Yale College student body encompasses the world’s most aspiring minds—minds that need the physical and intellectual resources to explore, discover, and create freely. Long recognized for its broad educational approach, Yale College nurtures students’ academic and personal passions, and instills in them the skills and knowledge to lead successful lives. Gifts to the Parents Annual Fund sustain this unmatched undergraduate experience.
The mission of the Parents Fund is to provide current use resources for:
Gifts to financial aid carry out the university’s generous commitment to admit all applicants, domestic and international, regardless of their financial need, and to provide financial support that offers every student receiving term-time financial aid the opportunity to spend one summer learning or working abroad.
Your gift will provide scholarship support to the 50 percent of undergraduate students who qualify for need-based aid. The average annual grant is $47,080.
Gifts to faculty support sustain undergraduate teaching by Yale’s world-class faculty, and provide resources that encourage the university’s most innovative teacher-scholars to create bold new curricular programs.
Your gift will fund special interdisciplinary programs such as Perspectives on Science and Engineering, which enables talented students in mathematics or science to embark on novel research as soon as they come to Yale, or the Freshman Seminar Program, in which students have an opportunity to learn first-hand from some of the university’s most innovative faculty.
As I reflect on my first semester at Yale, I want to take a moment to thank all those who have had a hand in making this extraordinary opportunity possible. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the gift of Yale. My short time here has been everything that I’d hoped it would be and more, and I know that without your incredible generosity it would not have been even a remote possibility for me or my family. Thank you, thank you, thank you.–Matthew Klineman BK ‘19
Gifts to undergraduate life support student life initiatives throughout the residential colleges, as well as a broad array of co-curricular programs that benefit the entire undergraduate population.
Your gift will sustain programs and activities that affect students throughout their Yale careers—from pre-orientation programs like Cultural Connections and Freshman Outdoor Orientation Trips (FOOT), to mentorship resources including the Freshman Counselors, to community groups ranging from student-led organizations to the Yale College cultural centers, student arts activities, and more.
Unrestricted gifts provide funds for the university’s most vital ongoing undergraduate programs, and allow Yale the flexibility to support new ideas as they emerge.
During the 2015–2016 academic year, 1,818 parents contributed $3,427,093 to the Parents Fund.
Yale offers a truly outstanding undergraduate experience, with limitless academic and extracurricular opportunities. Gifts to the Parents Annual Fund have a direct impact on our children, enabling them to harness Yale’s abundant resources to prepare for their future.
