Peter Schiffer Named the Beinecke Professor of Applied Physics

In addition to his post as the vice provost for research, Peter Schiffer will now hold the distinguished title of the Beinecke Professor of Applied Physics.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the field of physics, Vice Provost for Research Peter E. Schiffer was appointed the Frederick W. Beinecke Professor of Applied Physics at Yale. Schiffer, who is regarded as a global leader in experimental condensed matter physics, specializes in the study of magnetic systems. His research focuses on magnetic thin films, geometrically frustrated magnets, colossal magnetoresistance manganites, and the physics of granular materials.
