Giving to Yale

3rd Annual Yale Harvard Alumni Fund Participation Challenge

Tuesday, November 12 through Saturday, November 23, 2013

Final Challenge Standings:

Yale =  3999     Harvard =  3720

The Objective is simple — BEAT HARVARD!

During the Yale Harvard Alumni Fund Participation Challenge, alumni from all classes at Yale and Harvard will go head to head and compete to see which school can secure the most gifts and pledges leading up to The Game. The challenge winner will be determined by the number of donors, not dollar amount. The university that secures the most donors by the conclusion of The Game wins bragging rights for the year. Every gift counts!

During the inaugural challenge in 2011, the challenge classes (2007–2011) secured 330 donors vs. Harvard’s 299. Last year, the challenge classes (1998–2012) were barely edged out by Harvard, 1,010 vs. 938. The Challenge has been expanded even further to include all Yale College classes this year.

With home field advantage and even more Eli spirit on the line, we hope to reclaim our title and beat Harvard this year—on and off the field!

Challenge Rules

All outright gifts, pledge payments, and new pledges from Yale and Harvard alumni will count toward the challenge totals.

Gifts must be made between 12am EST on Tuesday, November 12 until kickoff of The Game on Saturday, November 23.

The school that secures the highest number of donors within the challenge period will be declared the winner and awarded bragging rights.

One gift per alum will count toward the challenge totals—alumni who give multiple times during the challenge will be counted once.

If you have an outstanding pledge, a pledge payment made during the challenge will count toward the challenge totals.

A multiplier of 1.326 will be automatically applied to Yale’s totals due to differences in the alumni base count.
